Innovative sustainable solutions for orthopaedic specialists
Woodcast and Ucast: Eco-Friendly Orthopaedic Innovations.
Ottobock is proud to present its latest advancements in sustainable orthopaedic solutions with the Woodcast and Ucast products. These innovations are designed to meet the growing demand for environmentally friendly materials in the orthopaedic field.
Woodcast: A Versatile and Sustainable Thermoplastic
Woodcast is a biodegradable thermoplastic made from aspen wood and polymers. It offers a functional and ecological alternative to conventional materials, being twice as stable as plaster and similar to glass fibres. Woodcast is easy to shape, even in difficult areas such as the fingers, making it an ideal choice for orthopaedic applications.
Ucast: Simplified Orthotic Bar System
The Ucast orthotic bar system is designed for treating joint malpositions and fractures of the upper limbs. It consists of just two components: the Woodcast thermoplastic and a self-adhesive support that bonds to the thermoplastic when fitted to the patient. This system is free from microplastics and provides a sustainable, effective solution for orthopaedic specialists.
Commitment to Sustainability and Safety
Ottobock’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond product innovation. The GreenLine series, which includes Woodcast and Ucast, focuses on providing safer, more environmentally friendly materials for orthopaedic professionals. These products not only reduce environmental impact but also enhance occupational health and safety during processing.
