Ottobock in conjunction with Orfit industries offer an email series of educational tips and videos to allow you to educate yourself with different techniques on static and dynamic splints while learning more about Orfit materials.
Inservice
Ottobock offer a product inservice to clinics interested in the Ottobock splinting range. An Ottobock specialist will coordinate a meeting with you and your team to show the range and offer some helpful tips on how you can work efficiently with the materials.
Introduction to static splinting - workshop
During this one-day workshop, participants will use the latest Orfit thermoplastic to learn techniques for fabricating basic static finger, hand and wrist based splints.
Finger based orthosis
• Splinting the DIP joint
• Dorsal finger splint

Hand Based Orthosis
• Short opponens orthosis
• Metacarpal fracture brace
Wrist based Orthosis
• Volar thumb hole wrist orthosis
• Wrist and thumb spica orthosis

Objective
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to;
• gain knowledge of different thermoplastics and their relative properties for clinical use
• develop practical skills in the manufacturing of upper limb orthotics
• obtain knowledge of upper limb injuries and their management with thermoplastic interventions
• gain skills in generating splinting patterns for the upper limb
Complex Finger Injuries - Workshop
The one day workshop, participants will be using the latest Orfit thermoplastic materials to learn techniques for managing complexities of finger injuries.
Finger based orthosis
• Mallet finger Orthosis
• Splinting for crush injury
• Volar plate orthosis
Splinting to gain finger flexion
• MCP joint block for active flexion
• Using an MCP block to fabricate a CAM splint
• Making in Indiana orthosis
• Gaining isolated DIP joint flexion
Splinting to gain finger extension
• Serial finger splinting with Orficast
• Static extension splint
• Capener orthosis

Manage Wrist Injuries - Introduction
During this one-day workshop, participants will use the latest Orfit thermoplastic to learn techniques for managing the complexities of wrist injuries.
Wrist based orthosis
• Volar wrist hand orthosis
• Volar wrist and thumb orthosis
• Circumferential wrist splinting including scaphoid orthosis
Splinting to gain wrist extension
• Static progressive wrist extension orthosis
• Dynamic wrist extension orthosis
Splinting to gain forearm supination
• Static progressive forearm supination orthosis
• Collelo orthosis / Dynamic rotation orthosis
