Andreia Lopes
Originally from Portugal, I completed my degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics at ESTeSL in Lisbon in 2010. Following this, I worked as an Orthotist in Portugal for nearly 4 years, where I was part of developing the new orthotics service and workshop in a private company, as well as promoting their services to Consultants and AHPs.
I made my decision to move to the UK in 2014, and during this time I had the opportunity to work for Opcare within the NHS in different hospitals. I started as an Orthotist at St Helier Hospital, where I ran general and paediatric clinics, and helped develop a joint diabetic foot clinic with podiatry and a new pathway for traumatic spinal fractures. Before joining Ottobock I was the Orthotics Clinical Lead at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) and Northwick Park Hospital. As part of my role, I worked closely with the NHS on orthotic service development, supported graduate orthotists and trained new members of the team.
I joined Ottobock in 2023 as a full time Orthotics Academy Clinician. I took the position to broaden my experience and enhance my specialist knowledge, whilst also bringing my clinical and mentoring skills to support other clinicians in their learning and development. I’m enjoying this new venture and am proud to be part of a well renowned global company.
