Jana Middlebrook - Orthotics Academy Clinican
About Me
My role includes Product support, education and training. Supporting both NHS and Private clinical providers. A large focus of my role in 2019 was certification and support of Ottobock’s FES systems, the L100 and L300GO.
Qualifying from the University of Strathclyde in 2012, I started my Orthotic Career at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH). NUH has one of the largest in-house Orthotic teams in the UK , which treats a very diverse range of patients. Working closely with experienced Orthotists and AHPs I developed my skills in specialist Orthotic areas including; Diabetes, Neurology, Major Trauma and Paediatrics.
Moving on from NUH I spent four years at Dudley Group Hospitals (DGH), a large hospital specialising in vascular medicine. The smaller team at Dudley allowed for a more specialist role within the Orthotic service. As an Orthotist i was an integral part of the Stroke Rehab, Spasticity Management Clinic. During my time at DGH and the excellent Corbett Rehab Centre, my experience and problem solving skill for Neurological Orthotics developed and I realised a strong passion for this area of the profession.
When the opportunity arose to become a part of the Ottobock Academy Team, I jumped at the chance to join such a well renowned global company. I am incredibly happy with the increased specialist knowledge and the great opportunities the role has allowed me to gain.
The leap from full time clinical practice to a more varied and educational role was an excellent move in my career. My pre-existing knowledge and experience of Ottobock was always positive and I hope that I have brought my enthusiasm for Neurological Orthotics, Education and Training along with me into this role.
