GoOn

Ulrike’s job as a teacher puts a variety of demands on her, from movement exercises to doing crafts with the children. One day she suddenly had to give up her job. She had acute back pain radiating into her left leg. She also stumbled a lot due to weakness in her foot. After several rounds of therapy, she was able to work at the nursery school again. Ulrike tried various devices for drop foot, and the GoOn orthosis ultimately came out on top: “The GoOn carries my foot along as I move and lifts it. This means that I stumble less. Plus, the orthosis isn’t too stiff. I can wear it in all of my shoes,” the teacher says enthusiastically.

Ulrike is 54 years old and has been working as a teacher at a nursery school for many years. She loves her job, but had to give it up for a time due to increasing health issues. “I had severe pain in my back which radiated into my left leg. There was no strength in my leg anymore and I stumbled a lot.” Ulrike began a long journey that involved numerous fields of medicine, a stay in hospital and rehabilitation. She was unable to work as a teacher for an entire year. Wear of the intervertebral discs in the lumbar spine was identified as the cause of her pain. Although the symptoms gradually improved, the weakness in her leg, instability during walking and frequent stumbling remained. Ulrike experienced slight weakness in her foot that included difficulties in lifting and setting it down. She tried out a few devices and supports, but found most of them too bulky. One day the GoOn orthosis from Ottobock was recommended to her. “I am delighted with this orthosis. I can walk better and more safely with the GoOn. The orthosis ensures that my foot is moved together with my leg and lifts it. This means that I stumble less. Because it isn’t that stiff, I can slide it into any of my shoes, for example shoes with small heels as well as flat trainers.” Ulrike ultimately reached her goal of working as a teacher again. She wears the GoOn at the nursery school and can do all of the activities she needs to do with it, including movement exercises with the children. She enjoys playing with her grandchild during her free time. Ulrike is delighted to be active again.

“I’m often on the go and the GoOn orthosis supports me in doing this. The orthosis lifts my foot, so I stumble less. It’s small, fits well and ensures that my foot moves together with the rest of my leg,” Ulrike says
