More detailed information and options are available from the staff at specialist dealers. An add-on drive is a power unit that can be coupled to an Ottobock wheelchair or other wheelchairs. The Klaxon Click line features various models of wheelchair add-on drives for this purpose. Generally, a wheelchair application process follows a multi-stage process. First, you need a medical evaluation by a physician. This person determines whether and what type of wheelchair you need. The physician issues you a prescription for a wheelchair based on your medical diagnosis and individual needs. You select the appropriate wheelchair together with qualified personnel, such as a medical supply company. Factors such as your type of disability, everyday use, height and weight as well as personal needs are taken into account in the decision.
Once you have selected a wheelchair is selected, a cost estimate is provided. The personnel of the medical supply company then submit it to your health insurance provider or another paying party (e.g. pension insurance, accident insurance) for review together with the application. In the case of approval, the costs are covered. The insurance provider may reimburse only a portion of the costs incurred. Your specialist dealer then orders the wheelchair and adapts it individually to you after delivery. If the financing for the wheelchair is declined, you can appeal the decision. Another option is to have the costs covered by the social welfare office, which you can only apply for if the regular application was unsuccessful.
You can find Ottobock wheelchair distributors as well as a consultation from our experts in the Ottobock expert search.
Spare parts can only be obtained from specialist dealers. Ottobock guarantees the availability of spare parts even years after the end of production of the device.
