Ottobock launches new hydraulic prosthetic foot
The Taleo Adapt features a hydraulic ankle joint and proven Low Profile platform
The medical technology company Ottobock is launching its first hydraulic prosthetic foot developed in-house. The Taleo Adapt features a hydraulic ankle joint and the proven Taleo Low Profile platform. Designed for users in mobility grades 3–4, the waterproof and corrosion-resistant prosthetic foot is particularly suitable for an active everyday life.
Smooth rollover for easy, comfortable walking
The mechanical prosthetic foot has two individually adjustable valves and the option to select one of three included heel wedges. As a result, movement resistance in the dorsal and plantar flexion directions (foot flexion in the ankle joint towards the sole of the foot and opposite) as well as impact loads can be individually adapted to the needs of users. The pressure between the residual limb and socket is reduced, contributing to enhanced socket comfort.
Thanks to the hydraulic ankle joint, users gain more freedom of movement. This allows the foot to adapt to uneven surfaces and slopes, resulting in a high degree of flexibility, stability and safety while walking. From heel strike to toe-off, the Taleo Adapt impresses with efficient energy return and a smooth rollover for a dynamic gait.
This is also confirmed by Carlos Brown from Texas (USA), who had the opportunity to test the new prosthetic foot before its market launch: “I feel like I can push the boundaries and do anything. I'm not scared. I like that there is flexion and movement in my ankle. It feels pretty similar to my other leg.”
The Taleo product range
Developed for active people, the Taleo product range now includes seven prosthetic feet. It is based on the Taleo platform with the split carbon toe. It contributes to a smooth rollover, enabling comfortable walking – whether at home, on grassy areas, forest paths, sand or gravel. Spontaneous changes in speed and direction are no problem either.
