The main difference lies in the ankle joint. A conventional carbon foot has no moving ankle joint. It owes its dynamics and flexibility to the carbon spring which deflects under load. With the Taleo Adapt, this carbon spring function is complemented by a hydraulic ankle joint. This enables the dynamics of the carbon spring to be utilised and the ankle joint generates additional mobility. This provides versatility, and an ability to adapt to a wide range of surfaces.

In addition to water-resistant material, the carbon foot also has water runoff contours on the adapter and openings in the sole of the footshell that let water drain away from the prosthesis. In order to maintain the functionality of the foot, it is essential to clean it as instructed after using it in water.
